Massage therapy is a professional, non-sexual, regulated health care option that has been proven to prevent, maintain, regulate and augment the physical function of the body, as well as relieve pain. Registered massage therapists focus on manipulating the soft tissues and joints of the body, and you will experience relief from discomforts caused by stress, muscular overuse and chronic pain syndromes.
Massage therapists work on people of all ages and body types, approaching their work with platonic professionalism. Although not medical doctors, massage therapists are highly trained and focused on promoting your good health.

New to Massage? Here’s What to Expect at Your First Appointment
We want you to feel comfortable and confident when you come to our clinic for massage therapy.
At Huronia Chiropractic, you will always be treated with compassion, respect and care. When you arrive at the office, you will be greeted and then given an intake form. You will need to fill the form out completely so your therapist can be aware of and accommodate any special needs or limitations you have. If you can arrive 15 minutes before your appointment is scheduled, that would be ideal.
Assessment & Getting Started with the Massage
After we’ve gotten your completed intake form, we will escort you to a private massage room. There, you and your massage therapist will discuss any physical issues you are current experiencing and what type of massage you are looking for. If you have a medical condition that your therapist feels would be better handled by your doctor, your therapist will let you know. If you have any injuries, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment until you are healed. This is for your protection—we do not want the massage to aggravate your injury.
Then the massage therapist will leave the room so that you have a moment to disrobe and get comfortable on the massage table. We will begin the massage with you lying face down on the table, under the supplied draping, which is used to ensure your modesty is respected. If you prefer to have your massage without disrobing, let your therapist know when you first arrive in the massage room.
As you wait for the massage therapist to return, take this time to relax and breathe deeply. Your therapist will lightly knock on the door before re-entering the room to ensure you are ready.
During Your Massage
Your massage therapist welcomes your feedback during the massage. If you require a lighter or deeper touch than what the therapist is using, please feel welcome to say so! We want the entire session to be about you and your well-being.
Whether or not you talk during your massage is up to you; many people opt to remain silent and some even fall asleep, and that’s perfectly fine!
After Your Massage
When your massage is completed, your massage therapist will let you know if he or she feels a next visit is warranted and, if so, when. If you enjoyed the massage and want to make another appointment, we advise you to do that now, as many RMTs are booked days to weeks in advance.
